SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Day 1. Arrive Kathmandu (-/-/-)

Upon arrival, your guide will meet you at the airport then transfer you to your hotel. If time permits and you arrive early, you are free to explore around the city or simply rest at the hotel.

Day 2. Kathmandu – Ason/Kathmandu Durbar Square/Swayambhunath ‘Monkey Temple’ (B/-/-)

After breakfast, walk from your hotel to the nearby busy Ason at the heart of the city, where you can witness the daily lives of the locals, pass along busy streets, shops , squares, ancient temples etc. The tour then continues to the Kathmandu Durbar Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the historical and religious location where many temples, palaces, shrines are located. Nearby is the famous ‘Freak Street’, the most popular junction during the Hippy era. Afterwards, continue your walk to the ‘Monkey Temple’ or Swayambhunath (UNESCO World Heritage Site), located atop a hill which commands the most spectacular panoramic view of the entire Kathmandu Valley. Swayambhunath is a Buddhist Stupa and to get to the top, one needs to climb 365 steps. Afterwards, drive back to the hotel.

Day 3. Kathmandu – Pashupatinath/Boudhanath (B/-/-)

Today, drive to Pashupatinath (UNESCO World Heritage Site) situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. It is the most scared Hindu temple of Lord Shiva. The bank of the Bagmati River is the cremation ground for Hindus. Walk along the stone steps passing along many temples, ashrams, Sadhus ‘holy men’ towards Gujeshwori, another Hindu temple then cross the Bagmati River towards Boudhanath. En-route you will pass through market areas, shops, schools before finally arriving at Boudhanath (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the holiest Buddhist Stupa. Explore around Boudhanath, visit the local monasteries. Afterwards, drive back to the hotel.

 

Day 4. Kathmandu – Bungmati/Khokana/Tau Daha/Kirtipur (B/-/-)

After breakfast, drive to Bungmati, the age-old Newari town, where one can notice the daily lives of the farming Newari community. Visit the Sikhara styled grand Rato Mahhendranath temple located inside the town. Then drive to Khokana and witness the traditional culture of the Newari community, chat with the locals, have a tea at the local tea-shop. Walk towards Tau Daha lake alongside small villages, fields and enjoy the serenity of the lake. En-route you will pass by Chovar where it is thought that the water of the Kathmandu valley drained out of the valley - in ancient times it was believed that the Kathmandu Valley was a big pond. Even today all the rivers running inside the valley drain out of the valley here. Continue towards the ancient Newari town of Kirtipur which houses age-old temples, shrines, houses. Walking past it’s streets is truly a walk back in time. Later on drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 5. Kathmandu – Sundarijal & Trek to Chisapani (B/L/D)

(4-5 hrs trekking)

In the morning, drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and start the trek uphill alongside a large water pipe of the Sundarijal reservoir. We will enter the Shivapuri National Park and proceed to the village of Mulkharka. Walking along Tamang village will reach Chisapani. Chisapani commands great views of Lantang Lirung, Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Mt. Everest; the sunset over the Himalayas in the evening is spectacular. Overnight at a local lodge.

Day 6. Trek Chisapani to Nagarkot (B/L/D)

(6-7 hrs trekking)

After breakfast, start ascending through lush forests then descend down to Jhule and Chauki Bhanjyang. You will then pass along villages, terraced fields and reach Kattike Bhanjyang. From here it ascends up again to finally reach Nagarkot. Nagarkot is the most popular Himalayan viewpoint closer to Kathmandu City which offers great views of the mountains including Mt. Everest in a clear day. The sunset view is especially majestic. Overnight at a local hotel.  

Day 7. Hike Nagarkot to Dhulikhel. Explore around Dhulikhel (B/-/-)

Early in the morning, start hiking along Rhonnie Bhanjyang, Kankre, Tanchok and finally arrive at Dhulikhel. Check-in to your hotel and explore Dhulikhel town, visit the market areas, walk in the age-old streets.

Day 8. Hike Dhulikhel to Namobuddha & drive to Bhaktapur (B/-/-)

After breakfast, hike from Dhulikhel to Namobuddha passing along green forests, fields and villages. Visit the monastery at Namobuddha and chat with the monks. Afterwards drive to the medieval town of Bhaktapur (UNESCO World Heritage Site). In the evening stroll it’s ancient streets. Watching the people’s daily lives pass by is an exciting experience in itself.

Day 9. Explore around Bhaktapur & Patan/Kathmandu (B/-/-)

The best time to experience Bhaktapur is during the morning hours when everything is at a standstill with not much crowd and you will certainly feel stepping back in time. Afterwards, drive to Patan (UNESCO World Heritage Site), another age-old city closer to Kathmandu and visit many temples, shrines, monasteries etc. Then drive back to your hotel.

Day 10. Drive to Budhanilkantha & Hike to Nagi Gompa Nunnery (B/-/-)

After breakfast, drive to Budanilkantha and hike up to the Nagi Gompa, a nunnery for monks. Interact with the monks, witness the spectacular panorama of the Kathmandu Valley including the Himalayas, stroll in the lush green forest. Overnight at a local lodge.

Day 11. Drive to Baundeshwor Cave/Jhor Waterfall & Back to Kathmandu (B/-/D)

Early in the morning drive to Baundeshwor Cave/Jhor Waterfall located in the same area. Later on drive back to Kathmandu. PM: At leisure. The evening is all set for a farewell dinner with cultural program at an authentic Nepali restaurant.

Day 12. Departure (B/-/-)

Your trip concludes today and we shall transfer you to the international airport to catch your

onward flight to your next destination.
