Glimpse of Bhutan
5 Days / 4 Nights
This is the shortest among our tour packages. We land at Paro which is scenically the most beautiful valley in Bhutan; the flight itself is amazing as we traverse the most awe-inspiring highest peaks in the world. The two districts of Paro and Thimphu are historically, culturally and politically the most prominent in Bhutan, hence this tour gives the best insight of Bhutan in the shortest time.
Our Bhutan itineraries are suggestions and are fully customisable according to your needs, interests and budget.
Treat these itineraries as inspiration and one of our experts will create your unique, tailor-made Bhutan holiday with your requests in mind so that you can truly experience Bhutan with Seven Senses.
Day 1. Arrive Paro - Thimphu
Fly into the Kingdom amid a breathtaking vista of the world’s highest mountains, a literal ascent into the heavens. Land at Paro International airport, and begin your Bhutanese adventure. We visit historical places in and around Paro valley, a scenic sojourn in Bhutan’s most beautiful valley, followed by an hour-long drive to Thimphu, the capital city.
Day 2. Thimphu
Today experience a rare glimpse of a large mix of culture, customs and traditions around which Bhutan has built its identity as a nation. Visit the Memorial Stupa, the 12th century Changangkha monastery and the 17th century Tashichhodzong that houses the office of the King. View the world’s largest Buddha statue, stroll around town and, probably, also see a traditional game of archery which is popular for its accompanying taunts and merriment.
Day 3. Thimphu - Paro
Visit the 7th century Kyichu Monastery, the oldest Buddhist monument in the Kingdom, see the ruins of Drugyal fortress, visit the National Museum and Paro Rinpong Dzong, a massive castle-fortress which today is the venue of one of Bhutan’s biggest annual festivals, the Paro Tshechu. We call it a day after visiting a farm house.
Day 4. Paro - Taktshang hike
The best is saved for the final day. Hike to the Taktshang monastery, perched on a sheer cliff face, 800 meters above the valley floor. The hike is beautiful as it meanders along a forested trail that is as old as the monastery itself. We take a short stroll in Paro town after the hike.
Day 5. Departure
Your guide will take you to the airport according to your flight schedule and will bid you farewell and a safe journey home. Board your flight back towards the UK.

TRIP NOTES
There is an opportunity to add some spiritual experiences to this tour for those who are interested in learning more about Buddhism:
We look at what makes Bhutan the last Mahayana (Tantrayana) Buddhist Kingdom. We delve into how the country’s cultural construct and identity is derived from Buddhist values, and how art, craft, architecture, monuments, prayer flags and rituals contribute to a vibrant and living faith.
We interact with monks, nuns and other religious practitioners and discover the rhythm of their daily lives engaged in prayer and meditation. We also receive religious initiations and teachings from great masters, and spend time meditating under the guidance of a master within the spiritually enriching confines of a monastery.
