You will finish your trip in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, the largest island in Belize and one of the most popular destinations in the country.  You’ll be able to kayak, snorkel and check out the many marine highlights, including Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Day 1. Welcome to Belize. Transfer to San Ignacio – Cayo (-/-/-)

Arrive at Belize International Airport, where you are met and transferred to a hidden gem in the Cayo district. For the next 4 days you can hike, swim, canoe, birdwatch, or just indulge in serious relaxation. You will be close to all the major Mayan archeological sites and natural wonders of Belize. This is an ideal starting point for the adventure that awaits.

Day 2. Mayan Cave Tour of Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave (B/-/-)

A full day of exploration on one of the most popular adventure tours in Belize. The first mission is to venture into the jungle to explore the underground archaeological site of Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave, otherwise known as Xibalba or ATM Cave. This Maya archaeological site and cave system consists of a series of chambers, ending in a 300 by 50 meter cathedral, where sacrificial ceremonies took place.  Your guide will show you ancient passageways, share stories of Maya Gods and reveal evidence of a Mayan princess burial scene.

Day 3. Visit the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich & Cahal Pech (B/-/-)

After breakfast, your first adventure of the day is the ancient Mayan ruins of Xunantunich. Known as the epicenter of the ancient Maya world, Belize was once home to more than 2 million Mayas.  Today we explore the Maya civilization, with its sacred temples & fascinating structures. Xunantunich, which means ‘maiden of the rock’ or ‘stone woman’ in Maya, is most famous for the large 130 foot temple known today as ‘El Castillo.  Cahal Pech, once the royal acropolis-palace of an elite Mayan ruling family, has 7 plazas and over 30 structures including temples, residential buildings, ball courts, an altar and a sweat house.

Day 4. Day at leisure in San Ignacio Town and Cahal Pech Resort (B/-/-)

Free day to explore San Ignacio Town and enjoy Cahal Pech.  You may want to check out the local market, go on a traditional Mayan chocolate tour….or just spend time relaxing at the resort’s pool and spa.

Day 5. From San Ignacio to the beaches of Ambergris Caye, with a stop at the Belize Zoo (B/-/-)

Depart after breakfast for Belize City, with a stop at the Belize Zoo/Tropical Education Center where you can explore the diverse ecology of Belize.  This is a great introduction to the jaguars, ocelots, tapirs, and other animals native to Belize that have been rescued by this organization.  Then you will embark on a water taxi to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye.  After settling into your beachfront hotel, go for a walk along the ocean, or wander through the cobblestone streets of this fun resort town.

Day 6. Customise Your Island Adventure Day (B/-/-)

Free day to explore the island.  The resort town of San Pedro offers a variety of amazing reef adventures -  from a beach picnic/sailing cruise, to a Manatee snorkelling trip out to Caye Caulker.  One of the top visitor experiences is an excursion to the Great Blue Hole, made famous by legendary French explorer Jacques Cousteau. Different Blue Hole tours include helicopter, snorkelling & diving; minimum numbers may apply. Contact us for details & rates (not included).

Day 7. Snorkel Hol Chan/Shark Ray Alley (B/-/-)

Today you will be part of one of the area’s most popular snorkel adventures – a half day snorkel tour to Hol Chan Marine Resort & Shark Ray Alley, including an exciting ‘swim with the sharks.’ (Nurse sharks are friendly!)  - boat transfer and snorkel gear included in this adventure. Marine Reserve fees not included.

Day 8. Explore Island by Golf-Cart (B/-/-)

This is your day to explore the largest island of Belize: Ambergris Caye. We’ve included a golf cart rental, a fun way to get a full feel for the island and what the different areas have to offer. Pack your sunscreen and camera, and drive around the island- be sure to check out Secret Beach!

Day 9. Enjoy Ramon’s Village Resort, San Pedro Town and local beaches (B/-/-)

Enjoy a day of by the beach, grab your book or a drink and relax on a hammock by the ocean.  In the afternoon, make sure to visit some of the local art galleries, or one of the beach bars or some of the local restaurants.

Days 10. Departure (B/-/-)

Your tour ends here.  Choose how to spend your last day enjoying Ambergris Caye. We can assist with arrangements to Belize International Airport, Belize City & other parts of Belize.
