Starting from Delhi, continue to Amritsar and visit the awe-inspiring Golden Temple then head to Dharamsala, the seat of the Dalai Lama. Next stop is Manali, with amazing views of the snow capped mountains and ancient temples, finally on the Shimla, the former summer capital of British India.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Day 1. Arrive Delhi (-/-/-)

Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel.

After a short rest proceed for a city tour of Delhi

Morning sightseeing of Old Delhi: drive past the Red Fort, visit Raj Ghat (memorial to Mahatma Gandhi), Jama Masjid, - The largest mosque in India. Drive past Chandni Chowk, once an imperial avenue of Mughal Royalty which today is the busiest commercial area of the city. Walk through Chandni Chowk to savour the ambience of an oriental bazaar.

Sightseeing of New Delhi: visit the imposing modern Lakshminarayan Temple. Drive past the India Gate (war memorial dedicated to the lives of Indian soldiers), the President's Residence - formerly the Viceroy's Palace, Parliament House and the Secretariat buildings, - an interesting blend of the Victorian and 20th century architecture. Visit the 12th century Qutab Minar, gracefully hand-carved for its entire height of 234ft, and the iron pillar, which has withstood the ravages of time and not rusted even after 1500 years.

Day 2. Delhi - Amritsar (B/-/-)

Morning transfer to railwaystation to board train for Amritsar.

Depart Delhi:                07:20 hrs

Arrival Amritsar:             13:25 hrs

Meeting and assistance at railway station and transfer to hotel.

Late afternoon proceed for the Wagah Border Ceremony - The Wagah border closing 'lowering of the flags' ceremony is a daily military practice that the security forces of India (Border Security Forces) and Pakistan (Pakistan Rangers) have jointly followed since 1959. This ceremony takes place every evening before sunset at the Wagah border, the ceremony starts with a blustering parade by the soldiers from both sides and ends up in the perfectly coordinated lowering of the two nation’s flags, it is called the beating retreat border ceremony.

Later in the night visit the Golden temple to see the Palki Sahib ceremony.

Day 3. Amritsar - Dharamsala (B/-/-)

Breakfast at the hotel then proceed for sightseeing of Amritsar.

Amritsar, one of the most ancient cities of India, sports some of the most attractive and intriguing tourist locations in the world. Highly regarded when it comes to the Sikh culture, you’re sure to get a glimpse of the utter devotion and dedication that this city thrives from – and setting your eyes on the Golden Temple is guaranteed to blow your mind. Also visit Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Temple and visit to local market.

Later afternoon drive to Dharamsala.

Dharamsala (Macleod-ganj) is the third most popular hill station in the state. It is the major center for the studies of Tibetan culture and is the residence of Dalai Lama.

On arrival check in to the hotel. Evening free.

Day 4. Dharamsala (B/-/-)

Today we will go sightseeing in Dharamsala, which include visits to the Tibetan Medical Library and the Medical center.  Drive to visit the Norbulinga Institute, which is set amidst beautiful gardens, surrounded by the green fields of the Kangra Valley, the Norbulingka Institute stands against a backdrop of the towering Dhauladhar mountains of the outer Himalayan range. Afternoon walk to visit the Namgyal Monastery.

Rest of the day free to relax or explore the rest of the town on your own.

Day 5. Dharamsala - Manali (B/-/-)

Today we will spend most of the day travelling by car from Dharamsala to Manali, enroute visiting Palampur town, viewing tea gardens, the Vaidyanath Shiva temple at Baijnath, Mandi & Kullu towns. On arrival check in to the hotel.

 

Day 6. Manali (B/-/-)

Manali offers much in terms of natural beauty such as panoramic views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains, flower gardens and orchards with green and red apples; places such as Solang Valley known as a winter sports location.

The Hadimba Temple built in 1533 AD is dedicated to Hadimba, The Manu Temple dedicated to the sage and lawgiver Manu is located in old Manali.

Day 7. Manali - Shimla (B/-/-)

Breakfast at hotel and drive to Shimla. We will be travelling for most of the day. Shimla, the Summer capital of British India, and the present capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla has been blessed with all the natural bounties which one can think of. It has got a scenic location; it is surrounded by green hills and snow capped peaks. After arrival check in to the hotel.

Day 8. Shimla (B/-/-)

After breakfast, sightseeing in Shimla - proceed to visiting the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies and Jakhoo temple. Afternoon visit The Christ Church, The Ridge, Temple, The Mall and the bustling Lower Bazar market.

Day 9. Shimla - Chandigarh - Delhi (B/-/-)

Travel by road from Shimla to Chandigarh railway station to connect to your train to Delhi. On arrival Transfer to the airport to connect to your flight home.
