Ladakh - Living Buddhism and Monasteries
12 Days / 11 Nights
Delhi - Leh - Tingmosgang - Lamayuru - Leh - Nubra Valley - Leh - Delhi
After the destruction of almost all the monasteries and the suppression of the spiritual life in Tibet by the Chinese, Ladakh is now the only area other than Bhutan where Tibetan Buddhism is practiced. Situated on the border with China, in the Nubra valley it was not until 1994 when tourism was opened. By land, Ladakh is accessible only in the summer. A road leads from Srinagar over the Zoji La Pass to Leh, the other from Manali in the Kulu Valley via Keylong in Lahaul, the second highest motorable pass in the world must be crossed.
