Visit Antigua, enjoy a cooking class, visit a coffee plantation, explore the colourful Chichicastenango market, tour Lake Atitlan and the surrounding villages. Head to Copan in Honduras to visit the Paris of the Mayan archaeological sites. Cruise the Rio Dulce and finally visit the Tikal National Park which contain some of the most fascinating archaeological remains of the ancient Maya Civilization.

Day 1. Arrive Guatemala (-/-/-)

Welcome to Guatemala. Your guide and driver will meet you at the airport for your transfer to your hotel in Antigua. Antigua is among the world's best preserved colonial cities in the Americas. It is a magic and captivating small town that makes you feel time might have stopped 300 years ago. From its colonial architecture to its beautiful surroundings; strolling through town on the cobblestone streets, you will experience the splendours of ancient times! A few things you can find in Antigua are art galleries and exhibits, films, coffee shops, amazing cuisine, cute little bars and much more.

Day 2. Antigua Guatemala Walking Tour & Coffee Tour (B/-/-)

After breakfast your guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel for your tour in Antigua. The tour includes visit to The Cathedral, San Francisco and La Merced. See breath taking colonial monuments and find out why this city was the bustling centre of the region for the Spaniards. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 3. Cooking Class & Coffee Farm (B/L/-)

After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to San Miguel Escobar Town. On arrival, you will visit the home of the "chef" (also known as a Guatemalan wife and mother) who doesn't use a recipe book because after years of experience she knows how to make her dishes by heart. Learn how to prepare a Guatemalan 'pepian', a mouth watering chicken stew made with different types of native seeds and vegetables. Make hand crafted tortillas which is not easy.

After lunch, your driver will take you to a nearby coffee farm to learn everything about the preparation and history of this world famous drink. 

Day 4. Chichicastenango Market & Lake Atitlan (B/-/-)

After breakfast, join your guide for a 2.5 hour drive to Chichicastenango. Chichicastenango is home to what is surely the most colourful traditional market in the Americas. Market days are Sundays and Thursdays, and draw not only the K'iche' Maya of the surrounding region, but vendors from all over Guatemala, representing many of Guatemala's linguistic groups such as Mam, Ixil, Kaqchikel and others, each hawking his or her products in a riotous cacophony of colour, dialects and costumes, smoke, and smells. Your guide will show you the most important aspects of this buying and selling activity, interesting facts and the beautiful catholic church were several Mayan rituals are held. When you are ready, your driver will take you to Lake Atitlan.

Day 5. Lake Atitlan Village Tour (B/L/-)

With three stunning volcanoes rising out of its emerald surface, Lake Atitlan is located 144km west of Guatemala City. It is characterised by its natural beauty surrounded by gorgeous views of the volcanoes and indigenous villages filled with culture. The famous writer Aldous Huxley considered it the most beautiful lake in the world.

After breakfast your guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel for a boat tour around the lake visiting two villages: Santiago and San Juan la Laguna. Santiago is home to Maximon, a venerated pagan saint who resides in a different house each year, smokes tobacco and drinks moonshine. San Juan la Laguna is home to several textile coops and art galleries. On your way back you’ll stop for lunch in a venue near your hotel. Dinner is on your own.

Day 6. Transfer to Copan, Honduras (B/-/-)

After breakfast your driver and guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel for your transfer to Copan. This little charming town with cobblestone streets, white adobe buildings and red tile roofs is a relaxed and peaceful place that will surprise you. A town which treasures one of the most beautiful and important cities of the Mayan Civilization. Local people are very friendly and willing to help someone from abroad. On arrival free time to relax at this beautiful village.

Day 7. Copan Tour (B/L/-)

After breakfast your guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel to transfer you to Copan. Copan is known as the Paris of the Mayan archaeological sites. Located between beautiful valleys, Copan is famous for the elaborated and detailed steles. This city has a special history, architecture, astronomy and art. Today, the site is one of the best restored, interesting and elaborate Maya cities known. Copan features some of the Mayas most impressive accomplishments in architecture, in astronomy, in sheer civic organisation. After the tour, your guide will take you in town to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch enjoy of free time to explore town on your own.

Day 8. Transfer to Peten (B/-/-)

After breakfast your guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel for your transfer to Peten. The best place for lunch is Rio Dulce which is half way (not included). After lunch, continue your journey towards Peten. The area of Peten is the largest department of Guatemala, occupies about a third of the country but contains only three per cent of its population. This area produces wood, chewing gum, oil, pepper and other agricultural products. Its main income comes from the worldwide known cradle of the Mayan civilization.

Day 9. Tikal Tour & Flight to Guatemala City (B/L/-)

After breakfast your guide will pick you up at the lobby of your hotel for your transfer to Tikal National Park. Tikal is the first National Park in Central America. It’s the biggest archeological site in the Americas with 576 km2 of jungle around the ceremonial centre. Tikal was an independent city that bloomed during the late Mayan Classic Period being the wealthiest and most populated city. Its massive constructions, symbol of political and administrative power, as well as its astronomical complex, makes Tikal a magical place that takes you more than a 1000 years back in history.Your guide will show you the layout of the temples, architecture, history, some theories of why they disappeared and if you are lucky a few monkeys, parrots, macaws and toucans will be on site. After the tour enjoy a drink and lunch at a restaurant in the middle of the jungle, then transfer back to your hotel.

Day 10. Departure (B/-/-)

Option 1 – Free Morning and Flight to Guatemala City– Enjoy of a free morning at the hotel. In the afternoon you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Guatemala City.


Option 2 – Transfer to Belize– After breakfast your driver will meet you at the lobby of your hotel for your transfer to Belize to continue your expedition.
