Day 1. Arrive Nicaragua - Transfer to Leon (-/-/-)

Welcome to Nicaragua. One of our representatives will be waiting for you in the arrivals area to welcome you and assist you with the transfer to León.

Day 2. Volcano and Colonial history (B/-/-)

In the morning, head towards Cerro Negro Volcano for a fun volcano sand-boarding experience.

Cerro Negro is the youngest volcano in Central America as well as one of the most active ones. The sand-boarding experience starts with a one hour walk to the top of the volcano. On the way up, short informative stops are included, shedding light on the history of the volcano, the craters and lava rock fields. Once at the top, safety instructions are given before beginning the descent. An exciting and educational adventure, and a thrilling sand-boarding experience.

In the afternoon, explore León through a walking city tour. 

Visit revolutionary murals, baroque/neoclassical churches and an art museum with works of internationally renowned artists. Explore the local market and colonial buildings; the tour ends with a visit to the picturesque rooftop of the largest cathedral of Central America.

Day 3. Masaya - Granada (B/L/-)

Transfer from León to Granada, via the Masaya Region. Discover the highlights, including Masaya Volcano National Park and some cultural experiences.

Gaze down into the active Masaya volcano to see molten lava flowing in the Santiago crater and then continue to the colourful artisan market in Masaya town. Afterwards, you'll have lunch overlooking the Apoyo lagoon from the Catarina viewpoint and visit the surrounding villages, including San Juan de Oriente, where you'll learn from local craftsman at a traditional workshop.

Day 4. Granada and Charco Muerto (B/L/D)

In the morning, get to know the main sites of Granada city. Then, you will be transferred to one of the local ports to take a boat to the Charco Muerto Community, located on the shores of lake Nicaragua. An experience to share with the locals and learn about their daily life.

Granada is one of the oldest colonial cities in the Americas, founded by the Spanish in 1524. No visit to Granada is complete without exploring the city's historic center on foot and in a classic horse-drawn carriage. On this tour, you'll discover key sites including the San Francisco Convent, founded in 1529, and La Merced church where you can climb the bell tower and enjoy spectacular views over the city, Lake Nicaragua, and Mombacho volcano. The last stop is the oldest sector of the city in the area around the Xalteva church and the old city walls.

Charco Muerto, located on the side of Mombacho volcano at Lake Cocibolca, is a rural zone managed by a peasant cooperative. This little visited destination offers a wide variety of activities such as hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and visiting Isla El Muerto, where many Columbian petroglyphs were found. You can also do activities in the community such as a cooking workshop. The 120 members of the cooperative work in agriculture, livestock and fishing. Due to the beauty of its surroundings, the cooperative started a rural tourism project. It is possible to stay overnight in the community.

Day 5. Mombacho Volcano (B/-/-)

Leisure time in the morning till the boat transfer back to the local port in Granada. In the early afternoon, you will be taken to Mombacho Volcano for a hiking trail in the cloud forest.

Experience the mystical cloud forest of this lush Nature Reserve atop a majestic volcano which boasts a wide variety of vegetation and wildlife. Explore the landscapes during a guided hike along the trail (1.5km) around the crater while enjoying the view of Granada, Laguna de Apoyo, Las Isletas and the Masaya volcano. Keep an eye out for the howler and white-faced monkeys, sloths, and the endemic Mombacho salamander. (This tour can be combined with the Mombacho Canopy Tour).

Day 6. Ometepe Island - Biosphere Reserve (B/L/D)

Transfer to San Jorge port, boarding point for the ferry to Ometepe Island. Today, you will spend the night at Puesta del Sol. Enjoy a culinary workshop and learn about the wine prepared by the community and the medicinal plants they grow.

Get on board for this marvelous culinary experience with a local women's cooperative, known as Puesta del Sol, located in the surroundings of Moyogalpa on Ometepe Island. During the tour, you will visit the cooperative and a wine and medicinal plants tour in the property which has impressive views of the volcanoes and the island, followed by a cooking class where you will learn about the homemade Nicaraguan cuisine. Enjoy this time to share with the locals and get to know the culture of the Ometepinos, the island inhabitants.

Day 7. Island Highlights (B/L/-)

Enjoy a full day tour around the main sites of the island, combining culture, history and nature wonders. Overnight in Charco Verde Hotel.

Discover the incredible nature, history, and culture of this enchanted island with this complete guided tour of Ometepe's highlights. Get underway at Finca Magdalena, a working community-run farm, where the guide will introduce the history of the island and take you to observe hidden indigenous rock carvings. Continue to the Charco Verde Nature Reserve and Chico Largo lagoon, a peaceful lake that has inspired local legends before visiting Ojo de Agua, a lush natural spring, where you can take a refreshing swim. The last stop pays homage to the island's original inhabitants with a visit to the museum of Pre-Columbian artefacts which boasts many well-conserved indigenous statues and ceramics.

Day 8. Pacific Coast Retreat (B/-/-)

Take the ferry back to San Jorge port and continue to San Juan del Sur. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 9. Day at leisure at the Pacific Coast (B/-/-)

Day 10. Departure (B/-/-)

Transfer from San Juan del Sur to Managua for your departure flight.
