Day 1. Arrive Singapore (-/-/-)
Upon arrival at Singapore Changi International Airport, meet your guide who will transfer you to your hotel.
The afternoon is free at leisure.
Day 2. Singapore (B/-/-)
After breakfast, proceed for a half day's sightseeing in Singapore. Discover the history, culture and lifestyle of this multi-racial city. Stroll along the Singapore River, and the colourful streets of Little India; visit the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore, the magnificent Sri Mariamman Temple, and join in the bustling activity of Chinatown. Visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the ‘green lung’ of the city centre, and the National Orchid Garden. After this, back to hotel.
Afternoon free at leisure.
Day 3. Singapore - Kuching (B/-/-)
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out and transfer to Singapore Airport in time for your flight to Kuching. Arrive Kuching in the morning. Meet and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, proceed for a city tour which will take you to places of interest such as Tua Pek Kong Temple (the oldest Chinese Temple in Kuching), the Old Gambier Spice Street with its open market, the Malay Village and the Muslim Mosque, the Kuching Waterfront and the Sarawak Museum (known to be the best museum in South East Asia).
Day 4. Kuching (B/L/-)
Early morning, after breakfast, depart toward Bako National Park. A National Park since 1957, Bako covers an area of 27 sq km. Bako contains a large range of vegetation, ranging from lush cliff and lowland dipterocarp forest to almost desert-like scrubs on the upper plateau. Among these vegetation are the carnivorous plants of the pitcher, sundews and bladderworts family. The mangrove forest is a home for the long-nosed or proboscis monkeys (endemic only to Borneo), long-tailed macaques, silver-leaf monkeys, monitor lizards, deers and wild boars. We will go on a jungle walk and Bako also offers some good white sand beaches that provide perfect resting spots in between jungle walks. Enjoy the unusual beauty of eroded rocks and cliffs while you dip in the warm waters of the South China Sea. Return to hotel.
Day 5. Kuching - Semenggoh Orang Utan Sanctuary - Batang Ai (B/L/D)
After breakfast you will travel 290 km by car, with a few stops along the way: first at Semenggoh Orang Utan Sanctuary, then at Serian town. Here you may wish to do some last minute shopping for insect repellent or gifts for the Ibans. You can also visit a fascinating native fruit and vegetable market. The other stops include a visit to the Pepper Farm and a stop where you can observe plenty of wild orchids and also pitcher plants, insect eating plants. The last stop will be at “Lachau” a small up country Chinese village, where lunch will be provided. Here you can still observe barter trading being held between the natives of Kalimantan, the Chinese shop owners and the natives of Sarawak. After lunch you’ll proceed to the final stage of the journey, and arrive at the beautiful Batang Ai Lake. At the jetty, you will take a boat/ferry across the lake to reach the hotel in Batang Ai. After check in, the rest of the day is free at leisure.
Day 6. Batang Ai - Iban Longhouse(B/L/D)
You will board native longboats for about an hour, across the lake, and then up the river, to reach a native longhouse. On arrival at the longhouse, you will be taken for a tour around the longhouse, to meet the natives and their families. The Iban women will organize a small market and display their handicrafts for sale. As a tourist, you do not have to feel obliged to buy. The Iban will perform war dances and will ask you to join them to test their rice wine. Don’t be shy to join them for dances and drinks, it can be fun. After the enjoyment before you leave this paradise, you may wish to have a short jungle walk to visit their farms and surrounding forests, after which you return by boat to your hotel.
Day 7. Batang Ai - Kuching - Kuala Lumpur (B/L/-)
Breakfast at the resort. Return to Kuching directly to the airport for your flight to Kuala Lumpur. Upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur transfer to your hotel.
Day 8. Kuala Lumpur (B/-/-)
Breakfast at hotel. The morning is free at leisure.
In the afternoon proceed for half day colonial city tour, starting with a photo-stop at the tallest Twin Towers in the world – Petronas Twin Towers. Drive through Lake Gardens and catch a glimpse of the National Mosque. Witness fine Moorish architecture from the 19th century in Sultan Abdul Samad Building and the old Railway Station (Independence Square). Explore a river confluence at Masjid Jamek, where Kuala Lumpur was founded. Visit the Arch KL City Gallery to learn about the history of Kuala Lumpur. The highlight of the gallery is the spectacular Kuala Lumpur City Model, measuring an incredible 40ft x 50ft, which showcases the city’s past, present and future through advance multimedia projection mapping on the model, the first of its kind in South East Asia. Visit the famous Central market which began life as a wet market in 1888, and after a long history of changes, was transformed into an award winning tourist attraction. Here you can buy some traditional gifts to take back home.
Day 9. Departure (B/-/-)
After breakfast, check out and transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
