Explore Hanoi, then embark on a discovery of the northeastern mountains and villages. Have lunch with a local family, discover the villages by bike. Go cruising in Halong Bay, then board an overnight train to Dong Hoi. Have some fun in the Phong Nha National Park, then continue to Hue and Hoi An. Help prepare a local authentic dinner with a local family, then continue to Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi tunnels and finally explore the Mekong Delta.

Day 1. Arrive Hanoi (-/-/-)

Be welcomed by your guide then transferred to downtown. Check-in to your hotel.

In the afternoon, enjoy a sightseeing in Ha Noi, a cyclo ride in the French and Old Quarters as well as the evening Water Puppet Show, followed by a traditional tea ceremony and calligraphy demonstration.

  Dinner at own account.

Day 2. Hanoi - Mai Chau - Mai Hich (B/L/D)

In the morning, depart from Hanoi for Mai Chau (135km). Mai Chau is located in the beautiful northwest mountainous area, approximately 4 hours drive from Hanoi. 

Continue to Mai Hich (+13km) and be welcomed by your host family. Enjoy a lunch, made from local products.

In the afternoon, take a short bicycle ride if you wish to explore your surroundings (Note: Bicycle can be rented on spot).

Dinner and accommodation at the Community-based homestay in Mai Hich village (Shared house) or Mai Hich Ecolodge.

Day 3. Mai Hich - Ninh Binh (B/L/-)

Dawn in the pristine northwestern mountains and the fresh air early in the morning is amazing.

Take a soft trek in the countryside along vegetable gardens, ponds, rice terraces. Experience the daily life of the Thai ethnic people with farming activities, keeping livestock. Lunch at a local house. 

Bid farewell to the family, the village and proceed to Ninh Binh. 

Dinner at own account.  Accommodation in Ninh Binh.

Day 4. Ninh Binh - Nam Dinh - Halong Bay (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Enjoy a scenic sampan ride (1.5hours) surrounded by a limestone landscape. 

Proceed to Ha Long with a stopover in Nam Dinh for visiting Tran temples. Upon arrival in Halong Bay board your boat for an unforgettable cruise. Welcome lunch on board.

Cruise in Halong Bay visiting some islands and caves. Possibility of swimming, kayaking (upon request) around hidden islands and beaches. Late afternoon, admire the sunset over the bay, participate in a cooking demonstration or have fun on the deck with the bar's happy hour. Enjoy dinner on board. Night fishing is on offer.

Overnight on board.

Day 5. Halong Bay - Hanoi - Overnight Train to Dong Hoi (B/L/-)

Breakfast on board. Continue cruising the bay and have a brunch before disembarkation. 

Arrive Halong wharf then transfer back to Hanoi.

Embark on an overnight train to Dong Hoi (basic comfort, 4 people sharing 1 cabin).

Note: In peak holiday season, we reserve the right to switch to flight Ha Noi – Dong Hoi  the following morning.

Day 6. Dong Hoi - Phong Nha (B/L/D)

Arrive Dong Hoi in the morning. Transfer to Phong Nha town.

Take a boat trip on the Son river to visit Phong Nha cave (wet cave) and Tien Son cave (dry cave).

Have lunch at local restaurant. Check-in to your accommodation at a farm in Chay Lap village. Time at leisure.

Dinner and overnight in Chay Lap village. (Chay Lap farmstay).

Day 7. Explore Phong Nha National Park (B/-/D)

After breakfast, visit the Botanical Garden. Take a soft trek (1.5-2.5hours, easy level) to learn about the flora and biodiversity of the National Park. The trek offers some jungle experiences and refreshing feelings as you walk by the waterfall and jungle trails. 

The afternoon is designed to give you free time, to opt for the experiences that suit your capacity and interest. The vehicle and guide are included for these optional visits but the entrance fees are excluded and can be paid on spot.

Option 1:

Visit Paradise Cave (1.5hours)

Paradise cave, 31.4 km long (only 1 km is open for visits), is another amazing tourist cave near Phong Nha. The scale is breathtaking, as wooden staircases descend into a cathedral-like space with colossal

stalagmites and glimmering stalactites. 


Option 2:

Zipline at Dark Cave (Best season: March until August with sunshine, blue sky)


Option 3:

Zipline, kayaking and Dark Cave experience (2-3 hours, Best season: March until August with sunshine, blue sky)


The Dark Cave tourist site offers 2 packages. The standard package includes one round of Zipline to take in the bird eye view of the Chay River, then unlimited time for kayaking, swimming and water sports at Chay River.

Note: Water can be cold in winter time.

As an add-on to the standard package, the full package offers a walk (1km round trip), swim into the Dark Cave, with life vest, helmet and head light on. At the end of the walk, you will swim or float on the natural mud pool. 

Suitable for young and active travelers.


Option 4:

Relax and swim at the natural Mooc Stream

This option is recommended for easy travelers wanting to cool down and relax in the natural source of turquoise waters, surrounded by limestone hills in the background.


Dinner and accommodation in Chay Lap village.

Day 8. Phong Nha - DMZ - Hue (B/L/-)

After breakfast, take a short cycling tour to explore the rustic atmosphere and rural life in the surrounding villages. 

Check-out and depart for Hue (200km), passing through the DMZ.

Visit Vinh Moc, a tunnel complex. During the American war, it was strategically located on the border of North Vietnam and South Vietnam. The tunnels were built to shelter people from the intense bombing over Vinh Linh county, Vietnamese DMZ. Stop at the iconic Hien Luong Bridge, over Ben Hai River, the 17th parallel.

Lunch en route. Arrive Hue late afternoon.

Day 9. Hue (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel. Start the day with a boat trip on the Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu pagoda.

Continue to visit the Imperial Citadel and Dong Ba market.

In the afternoon, take a scenic drive to the ancient villages around Hue. Walk leisurely in the countryside to immerse yourself in the local lifestyle, take photos when the sun sets over green fields and flower gardens. Stop by to visit some local handicrafts or hidden temples if interested. Be welcomed into an authentic ancient house where you will not only learn how people live but also help the host to prepare a typical Vietnamese dinner. Enjoy the dinner in a rustic yet relaxing, family atmosphere. An herbal foot bath with garden plants will be a special treat of the day.

Drive back to Hue through the Hai Van pass.

Day 10. Hue - Danang - Hoi An (B/-/-)

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Hoi An through Hai Van pass (if weather permits).  

Take a walking tour to discover the historic town which used to be a prosperous seaport city during the 16th to 18th centuries.  Its sizeable community of foreign merchants resulted in a unique architectural style with Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese influences. Visit the Phuc Kien hall, Japanese covered bridge, Tan Ky old house and a silk workshop.

Afternoon: Time at leisure. Lunch and Dinner on own arrangement.

Day 11. Hoi An - Danang - Ho Chi Minh City (B/-/-)

Breakfast at the hotel. Time at leisure until your transfer to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City.

Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City. Be welcomed and transferred to your hotel.

Evening at leisure. Accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 12. Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi Tunnels - Saigon Secrets (B/L/-)

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing complex of underground tunnels used during the Vietnam War. Return to Ho Chi Minh City.

Savor the tasty Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) for lunch.

Take a sightseeing tour including the War Remnants Museum, the Central Post Office and photo stops at the Reunification (former Presidential) Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral.

Free shopping time at the central Ben Thanh Market, or follow the guide to stroll Le Cong Kieu Street, selling antiques, replica objects, and the Yersin market offering a bunch of commodities and wartime objects.

Day 13. Ho Chi Minh City - Mekong Delta - Ho Chi Minh City (B/L/-)

A day to Ben Tre is a day when you are no longer a tourist but a true resident embarking on a sensory voyage of discovery. Enjoy observing how bricks and grass mats are made with age-old traditional techniques as well as how products are extracted from coconuts. Admire the stunning panoramic countryside with green coconut palms, yellow river streams and colourful local products. Feel the warmth of the tropical breeze and the coolness of water currents whilst exploring the earthy trails. Taste and smell local exotic fruits, “garden-made” cuisine or stop to observe and satisfy your palate with just-made wet rice paper or coco candies with green tea. Complete your experience listening to the sound of boats, and certainly the banter and laughter of local people, modest yet hospitable.

Day 14. Ho Chi Minh City - Departure (B/-/-)

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
